Onkjo have confirmed that their new 3D-Ready home cinema receivers will support the HDMI 1.4a standard. The HDMI 1.4a standard was a bit of a surprise to consumers and analysts alike as it came only a few months after the HDMI 1.4 standard was announced. The HDMI 1.4a standard includes two more formats, the “side-by-side horizontal” and “top-and-bottom” both of which are mandatory in order to achieve the standard. It means that if consumers want their home cinema to be truly 3DTV compatible then they need HDMI 1.4a compliant hardware.
Onkyo in an attempt to dispel concerns that consumers may have have confirmed that following AV receivers are HDMI 1.4a compatable:
TX-SR308
TX-SR508
TX-SR608
The HDMI 1.4a standard is not stated on any of these products but in a statement issued by Onkyo, they are compliant.
