Picture the scene if you will. It’s been a while since you’ve all sat down to watch a DVD or Blu-Ray movie, you all agree on which movie you’re going to watch, then the hunt for the remote begins. Let’s say you find that remote down the side of the sofa but you fancy listening to the movie using your surround sound system that barely gets a look in these days. Once again it’s grown legs and left it’s usual spot next to the TV and the hunt carries on. How about you’ve got Sky but the remote can’t be programmed to your TV so you have to keep the TV remote handy just to change the volume controls! are you getting the picture?
What a nightmare it can be, the 2 minute job of playing your movie could end up taking up the rest of the night by which time it’s too late. If only you could control everything just from the one remote…… well, those clever boffins over at Samsung may have the answer you’re looking for. With Anynet+ you can achieve the utopia of not having to play “hunt the remote” each time you want to change the input source on your TV for example.
How does Anynet+ work?
Well firstly all the devices have to include Anynet+, most Samsung machines (TV, Blu-Ray players etc) do these days as standard. It is a wired system so you need to connect up all your devices with HDMI cables. Then set it all up via the Anynet+ setup screen. Once it is all setup the only remote you need will be the Anynet+ remote that will have come with whichever device you have purchased. Ironically you may have more than one if you’ve decided to go in at the deep end and purchase the whole TV and Blu-Ray network. Luckily in this case you can ditch one of them.
It really as simple as that, you access the Anynet+ menu and switch devices on and off as you choose, then it’s all taken care of. There is an obvious flaw in this otherwise brilliant idea. If remotes go walkabout on a regular basis in your house, who’s to say that this one won’t do the same, and if it does, you’re really scuppered!
