LG DVD Recorder(DRT389H) Review

The reason most people by a DVD player is as a replacement for the old analog video recorder but then the next problem is what to do with the video tapes that you’ve amassed but can no longer play? the main answer to the is to transfer them on to DVD but the problem with that is that you get the white noise and dodgy jittery screen that comes with the old VHS tapes. The LG – DRT389H 1080P Up-Scaling Digital TV/DVD Recorder addresses this problem using the latest technology to remove every trace of analog from your disc.

It has a DVFX which is the signal is digitally processed for the highest quality picture possible. The larger your screen, the more noticeable the improvements, but whatever TV you use you’ll find your recordings to have a clarity and stability that’s missing from other recorders. This will remove colour breaks and jitters from the original video signals frame-by-frame.

This machine does not have a hard drive which is not a problem to those that prefer keeping everything on discs. The LG can however playback any type of rewritable DVD which means you won’t be stood in front of a load of DVD spindles wondering which one your machine will play.

It’s still a very attractive and well-made machine, dressed in a glossy black finish. Above the silver strip, you’ll find a cluster of buttons, including one to change the HDMI output resolution, plus the disc tray and hard-to-read display panel, while the lower half features a flap hiding the DV, composite, stereo audio inputs and USB port.

Help! I just purchased one of the above and can not get it set up. I have connected the blue scart to the sky box and the other to my tv. But still nothing but fuzzyness… not sure what to try next (have been plugging and unplugging various leads and scarts until I’m exhausted!)

    Help! Thank you!

It does sound like you’re doing the right thing in that you’re connecting the blue socket (decoder) to Sky and the other socket to the TV. The only thing I can think of is the input options on your TV, which SCART socket are you connecting it to on your TV (AV1, AV2 etc) there should be an ‘input’ button on your remote which tells the TV which to use (i.e., AV1, AV2, HDMI etc)
